In november ging in Leuven TANDem van start. Dat internationale onderzoeksproject zet de schouders onder de ontwikkeling van een app als eerste hulpmiddel bij TAND. TAND is de verzamelnaam voor alle neuro-psychiatrische problemen gelinkt aan TSC. Met de app zullen mensen de TAND-vragenlijst zelf kunnen invullen en een eerste advies krijgen.
Woon je in Ingelmunster of ruime omgeving? Ga dan tijdens de Warmste Week zeker eens langs bij de radiomarathon van Studio Kontrabas. Al enkele jaren draaien vier bevriende presentatoren daar non-stop-plaatjes voor het goede doel, in het kader van Music for life. Dit jaar gaat het geld naar RaDiOrg, de stem van alle mensen met een zeldzame ziekte in België. En hier wordt het interessant: de presentatoren zoeken nog mensen die willen komen getuigen over het leven met een zeldzame ziekte.
Een preventieve behandeling bij baby’s met TSC verkleint heel sterk het risico op epilepsie en ook de ernst ervan. Dat heeft EPISTOP uitgewezen, het grootschalig internationaal onderzoek naar epilepsie dat in juni zijn resultaten voorstelde. EPISTOP screende 101 kinderen met TSC nog vóór ze vier maanden oud waren en vóór ze aanvallen kregen. Door preventief medicatie toe te dienen, daalde de kans op epilepsie, ontwikkelingsachterstand en autisme aanzienlijk.

The DEA meeting 2018 (Leuven, 19 and 20 Octobre 2018) focussed on neurology, EPISTOP and TAND (TSC Associated Neuro-Psychiatric Disorders). It was organised by be-TSC, with the support of UZ Brussels, UZ Leuven and E-TSC.

DEA stands for Disseminating Expertise and Achievement. This E-TSC initiative aims at creating a readily accessible, active and sustainable network within and between EU countries, for clinicians treating people affected by Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. E-TSC aims to hold a yearly DEA pitstop to facilitate the sharing of best practices within a relevant clinical speciality, as well as across disciplines when the need arises in this multi-system condition.
The project aims to establish a holistic approach to the treatment of TSC and promote multi-disciplinary working across the EU.
